What is the Casper test?
The Casper test is an online situational judgement test delivered by Acuity Insights. Programs in medicine, physician assistant, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, veterinary and teacher education use it to screen applicants. It assesses interpersonal and professional judgement, not academic or clinical knowledge.
What's the format of the test?
The standard Casper test has 11 scenarios in two sections. In the video section (4 scenarios), you record a spoken answer to each question. In the typed section (7 scenarios), you type two answers against one clock (Acuity Insights, checked 13 Sep 2026). Caspermate lets you practise both.
What competencies does it assess?
The Casper test looks at interpersonal skills such as collaboration, communication, empathy, fairness, ethics, self-awareness, resilience, problem-solving and motivation. Scenarios don't test clinical knowledge. They focus on how you handle interpersonal and professional dilemmas.
How much does the Casper test cost?
Acuity Insights sets the fee, and it depends on where you're applying. For US medical schools (MD and DO), it's US$85, which includes 9 schools (Acuity Insights, checked 13 Sep 2026). In Canada, it's C$50, plus C$20 for each program that gets your result (Acuity Insights, checked 13 Sep 2026).
